diana_coman: hi esthlos [16:40]

requiemzz: im running Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon [17:07]
requiemzz: anyone have an idea? [17:08]
danielpbarron: i got it to install on whatever the latest debian was last year [17:09]
lobbesbot: danielpbarron: Sent 1 week, 1 day, 8 hours, and 19 minutes ago: <BingoBoingo> http://btcbase.org/log/2019-01-13#1886446 [17:09]
danielpbarron: had to downgrade gcc [17:09]
requiemzz: yeah I reinstalled my OS hoping I could install but no joy [17:10]
danielpbarron: here is my last formal attempt to document the process http://danielpbarron.com/2017/gentoo-eulora-quest/ [17:22]
mircea_popescu: requiemzz apparently your cinnamon no longer has libode. [21:07]
mircea_popescu: you'll have to look in the tree, when they took it out, and get the last version that has it. [21:07]
requiemzz: i tried looking for it an nada [21:07]
mircea_popescu: https://community.linuxmint.com/software/view/libode-sp-dev << that. [21:10]
requiemzz: sudo apt-get install libode-dev Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done libode-dev is already the newest version (2:0.14-2). [21:12]
mircea_popescu: yes but you want version 1 specifically ? or what is it ? [21:13]
requiemzz: not sure what i need to be honest. its been quite challenging to get eulorum to install but it may just be my ignorance [21:14]
mircea_popescu: sudo ldconfig -v grep libode [21:14]
mircea_popescu: libode.so.1 -> libode.so.1.1.1 [21:14]
mircea_popescu: what's yours say ? [21:14]
requiemzz: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/CxYK6/?raw=true [21:15]
mircea_popescu: right, you got 6 and need 1. [21:19]
requiemzz: ok ill see if i can figure out how to downgrade that [21:19]
mircea_popescu: apt-cache madison libode [21:19]
mircea_popescu: see if it even has 1. [21:19]
requiemzz: nope [21:20]
mircea_popescu: also apt-cache policy libode [21:20]
requiemzz: zilch [21:20]
requiemzz: am i better off just installing a older version of linux then [21:21]
mircea_popescu: well, in the sense that specifically as it says, "Note: the following instructions are specifically for 10.04LTS; also working on 14.04. " [21:21]
mircea_popescu: it wasn't tested with either ubuntu 18 or mint 19.1 before you tried, and apparently neither of these can satisfy dependencies anymore. [21:22]
requiemzz: ok [21:22]
mircea_popescu: so you ca neither find an older libode (specifically, libode.so.1, whatever subversion) and dump it into your current install (i expect this'd work), [21:22]
mircea_popescu: or else yeah, get an older linux that has it natively. [21:23]
mircea_popescu: you can either* [21:23]
requiemzz: ok [21:24]
mircea_popescu: (this work may seem frustrating from a personal pov ; but it's quite useful from a community pov, cuz it helps us know what to say to people with similar problems. so it's not a complete waste. plus maybe helps you learn something or the other about the wonderful world of foss, or somesuch) [21:24]
requiemzz: it does and I am greatful and happy to contribute [21:26]
