September 29th, 2016 by Diana Coman
diana_coman: mircea_popescu, 5mn on the cft [06:11]
Mariono: diana :D [06:12]
diana_coman: hello Mariono [06:12]
Mariono: why i cant play the game ? [06:12]
diana_coman: because you set up your character's name as "New Character" ? [06:12]
Mariono: so when i try to make a characther it still shown like yesterday [06:12]
diana_coman: give it a name which is anything OTHER than that [06:12]
Mariono: i still not be able to make a new character [06:12]
diana_coman: did you change that name to *something else"? [06:13]
Mariono: nope [06:13]
Mariono: when i login it show like that [06:13]
diana_coman: so then go and do it [06:13]
diana_coman: ugh [06:13]
diana_coman: YOU NEED TO CHANGE IT [06:13]
Mariono: but how to change the name ? [06:13]
Mariono: now i can change it :D [06:14]
diana_coman: let's put it this way: what have you tried to do to change it? [06:14]
diana_coman: how surprising [06:14]
diana_coman: honestly, you'll find eulora is not for you if changing the name is getting you stuck already [06:15]
Mariono: oke now i able to play it :D [06:15]
diana_coman: wonder of wonders [06:16]
Mariono: shinohai hello did you online now ? [07:41]
diana_coman: did you get to play at all Mariono ? [07:56]
diana_coman: hi anond how's it going? [07:57]
Mariono: yeah [07:57]
Mariono: i just walking around [07:57]
Mariono: and i dont know how to play it [07:57]
diana_coman: so read the wiki [08:00]
anond: hello ... [08:02]
anond: diana...mireca?? [08:04]
diana_coman: hi anond [08:05]
anond: mircea? [08:05]
anond: how are you? [08:05]
diana_coman: quite all right, how are you? [08:05]
anond: I´m....fine [08:05]
diana_coman: how's it going in game for you? [08:05]
anond: no so good because speed is much bad [08:05]
diana_coman: didn't it get better after that thread solution? [08:05]
anond: but there are some aspects i rellay like [08:06]
anond: really like [08:06]
diana_coman: :) [08:06]
anond: yes...it has improved ... [08:06]
anond: but maybe is slow for windows [08:06]
anond: i dont know [08:06]
diana_coman: please run dxdiag in a command line, and say what directx version you have. [08:06]
diana_coman: what fps do you get now? [08:07]
anond: oh let me sse [08:07]
anond: what is the command? [08:07]
diana_coman: for fps it's /fps [08:07]
anond: should i change from the whisper tab? [08:08]
diana_coman: aha, in main tab [08:08]
Mariono: diana i saw the thread in bitcointalk [08:08]
diana_coman: the slash at front is to signify it's a command [08:08]
Mariono: and how to claim it ? [08:08]
diana_coman: Mariono, you need to say hi to Mircea *in game* iirc [08:09]
Mariono: i pm shinohai but he doesnt answer it [08:09]
anond: 0.85 and 1.92 [08:09]
Mariono: how ? [08:09]
diana_coman: type there something like /tell Mircea hi, it's Mariono [08:09]
diana_coman: o.o anond wasn't it towards the 50s yesterday or did I misread the logs? [08:09]
diana_coman: can you check whether your processor(s) are fully used so not running on some powersaving /optimised mode? [08:10]
anond: 1.32 displaying fps... right now [08:10]
diana_coman: sucks [08:10]
anond: how can i check this? [08:10]
anond: i think it is fully used [08:11]
Mariono: diana_coman currently he not online [08:11]
anond: when i play the game my computer all slow down [08:11]
diana_coman: Mariono, his character is in the game so just whisper and then let him know/ping him when he gets online in here [08:11]
Mariono: diana_coman, i already whisper him in the game [08:12]
Mariono: diana_coman, so what next? i need to ping him here ? [08:12]
diana_coman: hm anond ; try from control panel /power options/additional plans or something like that? [08:12]
anond: diana... is really very slow (1.32) no? [08:13]
diana_coman: Mariono, I'd suppose you wanted to make sure he sees the whisper, lol; [08:13]
diana_coman: anond, yes, that is really very slow [08:13]
diana_coman: but I don't get it: HOW much slower was it before the thread throttling then? [08:13]
anond: i have no idea [08:14]
anond: but similar... a little more slow maybe [08:14]
diana_coman: hm, how do you know it improved then ? [08:14]
anond: what has improved was the quality of graphics [08:14]
anond: and the speed a little improved also [08:14]
diana_coman: please run dxdiag in a command line in windows anond [08:14]
diana_coman: I see [08:14]
anond: humm i am runnig this program [08:15]
diana_coman: I guess you could also try to prioritize the game client for CPU usage in the idea that it is slowed down by whatever else you have going on given that windows has a load going on for nothing at all times [08:16]
diana_coman: so what does dxdiag report? [08:16]
diana_coman: version of directx and/or opengl? [08:16]
diana_coman: try maybe opening the windows task manager, right-click on the process for the eulora client and set its priority to "real time" [08:19]
diana_coman: I think that should in principle force windows to give it more resources [08:19]
anond: https://thepb.in/p/oYhlAk9wyLrTZ [08:19]
anond: windows said "its is not possible to define pripority to Real Time" "It was defined to High" [08:20]
diana_coman: myeah, I heard only slow-stories about dx11 [08:20]
diana_coman: awww, windows ftw [08:21]
anond: what is ftw? [08:22]
diana_coman: "for the win"- I'm being sarcastic re windows and its "it is not possible" thrown at the user [08:22]
anond: :) [08:22]
diana_coman: my take on your trouble at the moment is that Directx11 is basically killing off your graphics card for no good reason [08:23]
anond: wow [08:23]
anond: may i do something? [08:23]
diana_coman: well, loads starting with getting rid of windows, but I'm trying to think of something less radical to start with [08:24]
diana_coman: did you have the same sort of trouble with other games? [08:25]
anond: no... [08:25]
anond: really no [08:25]
anond: but i dont play heavy games [08:25]
anond: neither windows games [08:25]
diana_coman: eulora is really, really light [08:25]
anond: i think my computer is not so good for that or not well configured [08:25]
diana_coman: that's why it's quite baffling how does windows manage to behave so badly [08:26]
anond: still... ihavent installed linus still [08:26]
anond: linux [08:26]
anond: i planned to make dual boot.... becuase im used to make some tasks and use some program in windows [08:27]
anond: but maybe is time to change completely [08:27]
anond: im not usre about that.... because this i thought about dual boot [08:27]
anond: and still a oportnuinty to learn more [08:28]
diana_coman: what programs do you use in windows exactly? [08:28]
anond: office a lot [08:28]
anond: excel [08:28]
diana_coman: you can always run windows programs in linux too via wine or a virtual machine [08:28]
anond: mainly [08:28]
diana_coman: have you tried libreoffice/open office? [08:28]
anond: yes... also there are open sorce ofiice suites [08:28]
diana_coman: those run in linux without any problem [08:28]
anond: i have no idea about richness of featres in these open sources suites [08:29]
diana_coman: out of curiosity: how long does windows currently take to fully boot (meaning from when you reset until it is *responsive* properly)? [08:29]
anond: because i was in the past used to program in excevl using a 'tecnology' called VBA [08:29]
anond: have no real idea ... i i think around 2 minutes [08:29]
diana_coman: I've seen worse [08:29]
diana_coman: but I'd be even a bit surprised it doesn't take longer [08:30]
anond: yes... there are caes of 5 minutes ,...:) [08:30]
anond: i try to optimze mi computer .... but i am lacking some knowledge to improve [08:30]
anond: or maybe is just the case of (linux x windows) [08:30]
diana_coman: do you currently have other processes eating up lots of resources? [08:30]
diana_coman: perhaps that dreadful flash thing? [08:31]
anond: no really only google chrome that is slow because the is running [08:31]
diana_coman: for the game itself I think it is a matter of directx vs opengl really [08:31]
anond: but waht may i do ? [08:32]
anond: change the version of directx... i dont know what is OpenGl...is a competitor of DirectX? [08:32]
diana_coman: I suppose you could try to uninstall directx and try either with a different version of directx or with opengl [08:33]
diana_coman: probably a good idea to roll directx back first [08:33]
diana_coman: with windows you might have nasty surprises if you just uninstall it completely [08:34]
anond: well you are talking about thing that i really dont know [08:34]
diana_coman: have a look at what other options of drivers you have for your graphics card [08:35]
anond: maybe i will need to do this other time [08:36]
anond: i need to give a 'organization' in my restroom [08:37]
anond: how may i give such 'look' [08:38]
anond: ? [08:38]
Framedragger: "but I'd be even a bit surprised it doesn't take longer" << to be fair, i've seen wel-configured windoze workstations fully start (i mean fully) from power cycle to desktop under ~8 seconds. requires ssd, lack of shitty startup programs, and m$ doing pact with the devil (i.e.: some kind of super fast uefi boot process, bypassing *something*). [08:39]
diana_coman: control panel, device manager and see your graphics card [08:39]
diana_coman: heh Framedragger that well-configured sounds very close to "taking microsoft out of windows" [08:40]
anond: rsrs [08:40]
anond: you are funny [08:40]
anond: or highly skilled..... (you two) [08:40]
diana_coman: anond, you can also go to nvidia site (I think you have nvidia graphics card, right?) and see what drivers they have there for your card specifically [08:41]
Framedragger: true. that being said (not to advocate anything), windows 10 does lots of self-pruning itself. "it looks like you, the user, are stupid, and you are trying to put shitloads of programs into start-up. want me to remove them for you?" etc. [08:42]
Framedragger: too bad it's still windows (and with renewed streamlined tracking(tm) to boot) [08:42]
anond: this is a long talk....today everyone likes to do self-pruning [08:43]
diana_coman: basically anond from all the reading I managed to do now it would seem that you stand a very good chance to see a serious improvement if you....downgrade your DirectX to version 9 [08:43]
anond: but here in tjis talk i am learning new things [08:44]
diana_coman: I can't say for sure as I don't have much experience with DirectX but that is what I gathered so far [08:44]
anond: you have been helped Diana [08:46]
diana_coman: to cite from the beautiful internet: "So basically, if I'm understanding this correctly, if an MMO I play (such as Rift) uses DirectX 9c and I bought a computer with DirectX 11, then I'm screwed and will experience lag due to the DirectX version not being correct for the game I wish to play??? " [08:47]
anond: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 [08:47]
anond: this is the grapfic card model [08:47]
diana_coman: anond, look in the windows/system32 folder [08:47]
diana_coman: you should have some files d3dx11 [08:48]
diana_coman: check if you have any d3dx9 [08:48]
anond: in windows the control panel show various files as drivers...it call 'files of driver' [08:48]
diana_coman: yeah, just go directly with the file explorer [08:49]
diana_coman: screw what windows calls them, lol [08:49]
anond: d3dx9_32.dll [08:50]
diana_coman: hm, so at least it IS there [08:50]
anond: :) [08:50]
diana_coman: anond, to look for drivers : http://www.geforce.com/drivers [08:52]
diana_coman: make sure you get the right ones for your card [08:52]
shinohai: 07:43 Mariono shinohai hello did you online now ? <<< this hurts my brain [08:58]
anond: diana...? [08:59]
diana_coman: yes anond ? [08:59]
anond: could you help me guide myself in a secure way to configure dual boot.... [09:00]
anond: because the source of information in web in very large and i sometimes i dont know what to do or how to back bios before starting dual boot [09:00]
diana_coman: first make a full backup of your data; then get yourself some linux that you are comfortable with [09:01]
diana_coman: hm [09:01]
diana_coman: usually linux after windows is quite all right, it knows how to configure for dual boot [09:02]
diana_coman: it's windows after linux messing up stuff [09:02]
anond: i have already burned a DVD with MintLinux [09:02]
anond: i have even installed it but formatted the HD a just after [09:02]
anond: and my windows is completely pirate [09:02]
shinohai: rofl [09:03]
anond: and i will not to purchase a payed version [09:03]
anond: at least not now.... in these times [09:03]
diana_coman: anond, I'm quite sure MintLinux comes with the option to "install alongside windows" or similar [09:04]
diana_coman: just backup your data *before* doing anything [09:04]
diana_coman: and then run the linux installer from the dvd [09:04]
anond: hum [09:04]
diana_coman: here: https://www.howtoforge.com/dualbooting-windows-7-and-linux-mint-12-p2 [09:05]
anond: just to place the DVD and start boot from it [09:05]
diana_coman: this one tells you how to make a recovery disk for windows 7 too: http://www.everydaylinuxuser.com/2014/07/how-to-install-linux-mint-alongside.html [09:05]
diana_coman: between those 2 you should be fine, just follow them [09:05]
mircea_popescu: AUCTION : 1 stack CFT, q 144, 4,5 mn heard hanbot ; 4 stacks LBN, q 339, 4,5mn heard hanbot . eta tomorrow 17:00 ART. [09:08]
mircea_popescu: and in other news, anyone got stone adze bps ? diana_coman ? danielpbarron ? [09:08]
diana_coman: uhm mircea_popescu I placed my bid on that cft at 5mn lol [09:09]
diana_coman: will check for bps next time I'm in town [09:09]
anond: wows.... how of two artcles should i start ? [09:14]
mircea_popescu: AUCTION : 1 stack CFT, q 144, 5 mn heard diana_coman ; 4 stacks LBN, q 339, 4,5mn heard hanbot . eta tomorrow 17:00 ART. [09:15]
mircea_popescu: sorry i missed it in the log :p [09:15]
mircea_popescu: diana_coman> wonder of wonders << lmao [09:16]
mircea_popescu: !~later tell Mariono well, normally you'd have to post your address, but because you derpily keep closing out your session, you'll have to deedbot a signed payment address. [09:19]
jhvh1: mircea_popescu: The operation succeeded. [09:19]
adnon: i had gone out of chrome broser and rentered in firefox [09:19]
mircea_popescu: and for everyone generally : get an irc client already, this "i'm on for five minutes at a stretch" thing is nonsense. [09:19]
adnon: diana... [09:20]
adnon: there is a way to get the last converstaion back in my active session? [09:20]
mircea_popescu: adnon say /topic [09:20]
adnon: or only seeing the logs? [09:20]
mircea_popescu: ah yeah, there's the published log. otherwise, get an irc client. [09:20]
mircea_popescu: irssi or xchat or mirc or whatever's available for your platform. [09:21]
shinohai: mircea_popescu: Are we still planning on locking this thread at end of month? [09:23]
mircea_popescu: lol we were ? [09:24]
shinohai: Maybe I need more coffee, but I coulda swore you said to close this at end of month. [09:26]
shinohai: stayed up until 3 am playing with alf's new toy [09:26]
mircea_popescu: lol! [09:27]
mircea_popescu: i dunno, man. kinda wait-and-see neh ? [09:27]
shinohai: Works for me. [09:27]
shinohai: I moved the post to "Games" section which explains the recent influx in past 2-3 days. [09:27]
mircea_popescu: ah [09:28]
mircea_popescu: smart move. [09:28]
mircea_popescu: what's it yet at, .2 or somesuch ? [09:30]
mircea_popescu: had really hoped to give away 10 btc or somesuch. [09:30]
mircea_popescu: sadly there's really not that many people. i dunno what the fiat media keeps ranting on about "7 billion people on earth", it's like... 5k or so at most. [09:31]
shinohai: lol .... yeah I have it at 0.2 btc in post [09:31]
shinohai: + the 1m Ecu I took [09:32]
shinohai: thinks he is only player that wanted coppers thus far. [09:32]
mircea_popescu: iirc multiple peeps got ecu also [09:32]
shinohai: O rly? [09:32]
mircea_popescu: nah, were like 3 or 4 [09:32]
shinohai: Will fix post to reflect in a bit. [09:33]
mircea_popescu: anond> 1.32 displaying fps... right now << holy tapdancing christ. [09:34]
adnon: sorry.. what is tapdancing? [09:37]
mircea_popescu: !~google tap dancing [09:38]
jhvh1: mircea_popescu: Tap dance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tap_dance>; Happy Tap Dance #TAPPY - Pharrell Williams - YouTube: <https://www.youtube.com/watch\%3Fv\%3DLAU8eBek_NU>; International Tap Association: <http://www.tapdance.org/> [09:38]
adnon: oh ok..tapdancing has a icone in Jimmi Slyde [09:38]
mircea_popescu: 1.x fps is incredibly terribly bad and i have no idea how this can be the case. [09:38]
adnon: sorry.... for lazy's qustion... [09:38]
mircea_popescu: eulora runs on my system at ~150-200 fps, so i limit it to 40 deliberately. [09:39]
shinohai: O.o [09:39]
adnon: ok...i see [09:39]
mircea_popescu: adnon can you install linux on your system ? [09:39]
adnon: im working to improve something here [09:39]
adnon: yes i can.. i intend do it [09:41]
mircea_popescu: ok, if you do that will be very useful because it will definitively show if it's the hardware or windows. [09:41]
adnon: yes [09:41]
shinohai: Mine says 1.11 fps but runs decent enough for play [09:42]
mircea_popescu: i very much suspect it's not the computer itself but windows, but i have no real way to prove unless someone who actually has windows tries it on linux on same machine [09:42]
mircea_popescu: shinohai plox to run dxdiag and report [09:42]
shinohai: on linux? [09:42]
adnon: i have sent a file with hardware detection from dxdiag to diana.. [09:42]
mircea_popescu: shinohai you're getting 1.1 fps on linux ? [09:43]
shinohai: according to /fps on game yes. [09:44]
mircea_popescu: da fuck. shinohai can you paste that glxinfo says ? [09:44]
mircea_popescu: there's also glxgears and such. [09:45]
shinohai: http://wotpaste.cascadianhacker.com/pastes/j4p87/?raw=true [09:46]
shinohai: Sure beats the 0.6 I had before so I'm not complaining too much. At least playable at last. [09:47]
mircea_popescu: thgankee. well, the ~only solution i see here is to collect these diag prints from people with very low fps and eventually figure out wtf it is. [09:48]
Framedragger: shinohai: it's doing software rendering. "SGI" [09:48]
shinohai: glxgears gives me a solid 3088 frames in 5.0 seconds = 617.526 FPS [09:48]
shinohai: But graphics never were my thing, Eulora is my first foray into world of gaming [09:50]
Framedragger: oh no, it's more convoluted than that, so not sure. in another place it says "OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4". you also seem to be running it in a virtual machine (vmware)? [09:50]
Framedragger: shinohai: ^ [09:50]
mircea_popescu: sgi is the chipset maker, silicon graphics. [09:50]
shinohai: Nope, it isn't a VM [09:50]
Framedragger: oh. okay [09:51]
shinohai: Just vanilla Debian [09:51]
Framedragger: shinohai: wonder why it says "OpenGL vendor string: VMware, Inc." then [09:51]
mircea_popescu: anyway, it's very bizarre, but it also looks a lot like "and then i hit myself in the head with the hammer" sort of software issue. [09:51]
shinohai: Likely is user error, no argument here. I felt I was a success just getting past all the UEFI issues. [09:52]
adnon: THE GEFOREC website... does not auto-detect my GPU [09:52]
adnon: some reliable tip to auto-detect GPU specs? [09:53]
mircea_popescu: shinohai yeah, bnut the user in this case would likely be the eulora coder. [09:53]
mircea_popescu: adnon dxdiag. [09:53]
adnon: ok [09:54]
adnon: DirectX Version: DirectX 11 [09:54]
mircea_popescu: anond> im not usre about that.... because this i thought about dual boot << nothing wrong with dual boot ; as you say, best way to use that for a while and learn, then move. [09:54]
mircea_popescu: adnon no, it has a special hardware section where it tells you hardware details [09:54]
adnon: Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 [09:54]
adnon: Manufacturer: NVIDIA [09:54]
adnon: Chip type: GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 [09:54]
adnon: DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC [09:54]
adnon: Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_03D0&SUBSYS_14051565&REV_A2 [09:54]
adnon: Display Memory: 1336 MB [09:54]
adnon: Dedicated Memory: 121 MB [09:54]
adnon: Shared Memory: 1215 MB [09:54]
adnon: Current Mode: 1920 x 1080 (32 bit) (60Hz) [09:54]
mircea_popescu: yes ; i saw that in your previous paste. [09:54]
adnon: sorry. im being ....repetitive [09:55]
mircea_popescu: oh incidentally. do you run eulora in fullscreen or windowed ? [09:55]
adnon: windowed [09:55]
mircea_popescu: a) try full screen and report /fps (alt-enter) ; b) how large is the window ? like most of your screen ? [09:55]
adnon: no half size in each dimension... one quadrant [09:56]
adnon: i have turned eulora out becuase it slows my machine extremaly [09:57]
mircea_popescu: aha [09:57]
adnon: because this im talikng..to try solve / improve windows and also install dual boot [09:57]
mircea_popescu: well when you have a moment i'd really like to see the result of these tests [09:58]
adnon: what tests? [09:58]
mircea_popescu: a) try full screen and report /fps (alt-enter) < [09:58]
adnon: ok [09:58]
adnon: soon i hope [09:58]
mircea_popescu: and the other one is : there's a file called euloraclient.cfg. it contains some things i want you to alter and report /fps with them [09:58]
shinohai: The threads setting helped mine tremendously, even on 'nix [09:59]
adnon: ok [10:00]
mircea_popescu: first thing is : move Video.ScreenWidth = 1280 and Video.ScreenHeight = 768 to 640 and 384 and see fps ; second thing is Engine.Lighting.Radiosity.StopImprovement = 100.0 Engine.Lighting.Radiosity.StopIterations = 10000 << make these both 10 and see fps [10:00]
mircea_popescu: shinohai ^ can also try as well [10:00]
shinohai: nb thanks [10:00]
adnon: ahaha [10:00]
adnon: wow [10:00]
mircea_popescu: vaguely suspects lighting may be culprit. [10:01]
adnon: you would like to see the tests before i improve windows ... iguess? [10:01]
mircea_popescu: sure. [10:01]
adnon: the i need to stop improving now [10:01]
adnon: give me atime [10:01]
mircea_popescu: well, do it whichever way is convenient. i'm not going anywhere so take your time. [10:02]
adnon: ok [10:02]
adnon: one test in a time [10:02]
adnon: im starting eulora [10:02]
mircea_popescu: dun dun dun [10:02]
adnon: itopens with a blood battle [10:03]
mircea_popescu: lol [10:03]
adnon: 2.02 fps right now [10:04]
mircea_popescu: anond> change the version of directx... i dont know what is OpenGl...is a competitor of DirectX? << well not exactly competitor, but say the equivalent of directx for linux platforms. older ; was for a while better (2005-2010ish or so) but meanwhile direct3d closed the gap more or less. [10:04]
adnon: what change firts...? fullscreen? [10:04]
mircea_popescu: sure. [10:04]
adnon: curious...my maximize button is disabled [10:05]
mircea_popescu: well yeah cuz fixed window size. [10:06]
adnon: what should i do? [10:06]
mircea_popescu: /fps [10:06]
mircea_popescu: anond> you have been helped Diana << :D [10:07]
adnon: there is a way to copy results form eulora e paste here? [10:07]
mircea_popescu: yes, but you have to open the chat logfile [10:07]
adnon: annyway... [10:07]
mircea_popescu: on linux you just do tail -r ~/.Eulora/logs/yourname_chat.txt and it scrolls it down [10:08]
adnon: i have posted in game [10:08]
mircea_popescu: no idea in widnows but there is probably same way [10:08]
mircea_popescu: adnon ok but i can't see it ; send it as a tell ? [10:09]
adnon: 2.02 displaying 2.02 hiding 0.85 displaying 2.02 hiding 2.02 displaying [10:10]
mircea_popescu: anond> i have already burned a DVD with MintLinux << for the record, you can "dual boot" most linux, including mint, directly off the dvd. it won't be as fast and whatever, but still, gets you a space to try things. [10:11]
mircea_popescu: anond> at least not now.... in these times << but... why ? lmao. [10:11]
adnon: just now 3.02 hiding [10:11]
mircea_popescu: adnon so about the same thing. ok. alt-enter again to get out of full screen then. [10:11]
adnon: because i´m very porr in money... [10:11]
mircea_popescu: so why would you give your money to microsoft then lol [10:12]
adnon: :) [10:12]
adnon: my start of career was with microsoft tools [10:12]
adnon: :) [10:12]
mircea_popescu: it has ~no future. [10:12]
adnon: some old and good times that epoque [10:13]
adnon: linux is a new world to me [10:13]
adnon: also java [10:13]
adnon: also php [10:13]
mircea_popescu: such new worlds. [10:13]
adnon: and surprisiling this channel was very good to know [10:13]
mircea_popescu: hehe. [10:14]
adnon: what to do to have fullscreen? [10:15]
shinohai: Well mircea_popescu changing those values to 10 got me 1.43 fps [10:15]
adnon: and make the seconf fps test? [10:15]
mircea_popescu: adnon you close the game and change the file [10:16]
mircea_popescu: shinohai ie improved it ? [10:16]
adnon: no [10:16]
shinohai: yup, sucks less [10:17]
adnon: what file mircea? [10:17]
shinohai: euclient.cfg [10:17]
adnon: euloraclient cfg...? [10:18]
adnon: LAST FPS BEFORE CLOSING [10:19]
adnon: 0.98 [10:19]
mircea_popescu: kk [10:19]
mircea_popescu: shinohai feel free to fuck around with the settings in that section and see if anything notable happens. [10:19]
adnon: ahahah [10:19]
adnon: while this my family kills me [10:20]
shinohai: Well Eulora is dangerous like that adnon [10:20]
mircea_popescu: adnon well don't let them do that ; tell them you have important test work to do. [10:21]
mircea_popescu: shinohai PlaneShift.Weather.Enabled = false << including stuff like that . [10:21]
adnon: denied access to save the file [10:23]
mircea_popescu: gotta close the game. [10:23]
adnon: have already closed [10:23]
adnon: maybe charcoding..? [10:23]
adnon: ANSI here [10:23]
adnon: is trange beacuse i have changed threades =1 before [10:24]
adnon: ok i ahve done [10:25]
adnon: windows now is much smaller [10:25]
adnon: 3.48 fps [10:26]
adnon: now [10:26]
adnon: just changing windows size...not other parameters [10:26]
adnon: curios is that chat and stats dialogs keeps much bigger proportionally...than the other video settings [10:28]
mircea_popescu: hm. [10:31]
dharkmadder: mm hello mircea-popescu please make me an account. thanks [10:34]
shinohai: Believe this or not but disabling *sound* actually improved my load time. [10:34]
mircea_popescu: heya. just one sec dharkmadder [10:35]
mircea_popescu: shinohai great! [10:35]
shinohai: 1.51 fps [10:35]
mircea_popescu: lol. still ridoinculous. [10:36]
mircea_popescu: DianaComan http://wotpaste.cascadianhacker.com/pastes/11zrz/?raw=true [10:36]
mircea_popescu: dharkmadder http://wotpaste.cascadianhacker.com/pastes/xj6sc/?raw=true [10:38]
adnon: mircea? [10:58]
adnon: 5.94 D; 7.68 H; 7,89 D; 3;84 H; 3.55 D, 3.88 H (after two alterations: windows size and Engine.Lighting.Radiosity settings) [11:01]
adnon: (D= displaying and H= hiding) [11:01]
adnon: test three... PLaneShift.Wheater enabled = false hurts the system.... (the mouse does not appears and disapperas intermitently and i cant click in the chat windows to do fps) [11:08]
shinohai: Mine was false to begin with [11:11]
shinohai: Also I tried: usermod -a -G video shinohai .... which lowered my fps to 1.01 :/ [11:12]
shinohai: Seems to pick up after a bit though, but certainly not to screen-melting levels. [11:17]
Framedragger: shinohai: i'm just curious, what do (the line with 'product' in it, etc.) and give you? [11:33]
shinohai: Framedragger: Don't have lshw but lspci gives: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Device 1916 (rev 07) [11:34]
Framedragger: shinohai: lswh is in debian's repos i think; but anyway, hmm, possibly an old intel hd graphics thingie in your pc, from searching around. [11:36]
Framedragger: lshw* [11:36]
shinohai: Mine is Frankenstein Debian with systemd removed xD [11:37]
Framedragger: shinohai: you still have aptitude tho, right, and package repos set up? :) [11:39]
shinohai: yup ... dunno why I don't have it. Will install in a bit have an errand to run real quick. [11:40]
Framedragger: shinohai: you may do well to attempt installing intel graphics driver - may work for you - but dont quote me on it. [11:40]
shinohai: kk thanx! :) [11:41]
adnon: well....guys...thanks for allhelp [11:43]
adnon: the fps has improved a little ..but i think is still low [11:43]
adnon: now i dont know exactilly what to do.... [11:43]
adnon: i will give a time and come back later [11:44]
adnon: once more..thanks to all [11:44]
mircea_popescu: adnon so actually it helped somewhat. 5-6 fps is still not acceptable, but at least not 1.x insanity. [11:56]
mircea_popescu: dharkmadder hey, post your address ? [12:15]
dharkmadder: my address is 1KzvzQFWJNaTZqGkNKnT38AGKLx31z5gHm thank you [12:16]
mircea_popescu: alrighty. i usually have mining tasks, but right now i'm flat out of the required materials. i'll be making some more ; meanwhile either DianaComan or danielpbarron might have something for you. [12:17]
Mariono: mircea_popescu helo i want to claim the free btc [13:01]
mircea_popescu: who are you in game ? [13:02]
Mariono: Mariono BMX [13:02]

Mariono: so i need to send another one ? [13:02]
mircea_popescu: did you get jhvh1 's private message ? [13:03]
Mariono: yes [13:03]
Mariono: Sent 3 hours and 42 minutes ago: <mircea_popescu> well, normally you'd have to post your address, but because you derpily keep closing out your session, you'll have to deedbot a signed payment address. [13:03]
mircea_popescu: right. [13:03]
mircea_popescu: so you need to sign the address you want and send it to deedbot [13:03]
Mariono: i closing my session because before i play on an internet cafe [13:03]
mircea_popescu: no big deal. [13:03]
Mariono: how to do that? [13:04]
mircea_popescu: You write down something, like "Here's my address for the free Bitcent : 1blabla" ; then you tell kleopatra to sign it, then you take the result and put it in wotpaste, then you tell deedbot !!deed url [13:04]
Mariono: oke wait :D [13:04]
mircea_popescu: i'm not at an internet cafe :) [13:05]
Mariono: mircea_popescu i alread have a pgp message [13:20]

adnon: as soon as possible i will return with new results for tests [15:03]
adnon: about FPS [15:03]
mircea_popescu: !~later tell adnon there's no record of that address in the log ; please link to where in the log i told you to paste an address, and where you pasted it. [15:06]
jhvh1: mircea_popescu: The operation succeeded. [15:06]
anond: sorry i have not understood... [15:13]
mircea_popescu: which part ? [15:13]
anond: there's no record of that address in the log ; please link to where in the log i told you to paste an address, and where you pasted it. [15:15]
mircea_popescu: right. [15:15]
anond: what should i do? [15:17]
mircea_popescu: if you are expecting payment to that address, show why. if you are expecting payment, but in general not to that address, show why. [15:21]
anond: well i ams just waiting payment to that address because is my addres and because i have done the tasks instructed in Bitcointalk.org thread [15:22]
mircea_popescu: so you whispered to me in game ? [15:24]
anond: give me a time...but yes i have whispered you in the game [15:27]
anond: diana has instructed me to do [15:27]
anond: i have whispered yesterady or before [15:27]
mircea_popescu: so what did i say ? [15:27]
anond: in that moment ....you have not said nothing [15:28]
anond: you have not answered in that moment [15:28]
mircea_popescu: well, so what did you say ? [15:29]
mircea_popescu: you're not making this easy AT ALL, you know. [15:29]
anond: :) [15:31]
anond: sorry [15:31]
anond: i have whispered to you in game (following instructions from diana). [15:32]
anond: yesterday or before [15:32]
mircea_popescu: anyway. the payout list is current. if you think you should be on there but aren't, go read the entire log, and find the place where things went astray, then link it to me. [15:32]
anond: and there (in the whisper) i have passed to you my bitcoin address [15:32]
mircea_popescu: lessee. [15:32]
mircea_popescu: anond http://logs.minigame.bz/2016-09-28.log.html#t16:09:55 << that's the link you're looking for. [15:37]
mircea_popescu: anyway, same procedure for you as for mariono, since you left in between. [15:37]
anond: mircea...my address is not there in this log [15:38]
anond: i will need to whisper to you again in the game [15:38]
mircea_popescu: no. [15:39]
mircea_popescu: http://logs.minigame.bz/latest.log.html#t17:03:15 << do this. [15:39]
anond: how do i get a jhvh1 private message? [15:42]
mircea_popescu: and for the record, here's what you sent me : http://wotpaste.cascadianhacker.com/pastes/n6kh2/?raw=true ; these are TERRIBLE communication skills. seriously, nine lines over a whole day which consist of "are you there" repeated n times yet fail to include your name here ? don't do this sort of dumb shit. here's a sane example : "(11:04:17) [Tell] Tsui tells you: hello i am dharkmadder.. did i get the initial 0.01 btc? and ho [15:42]
mircea_popescu: w to earn more?" [15:42]
mircea_popescu: anond you don't need to get that, just do what it says. [15:42]
anond: :) [15:44]
anond: sorry really [15:44]
anond: i will try to improve in the next time [15:44]
mircea_popescu: alright. [15:45]
anond: my address is 13dbkKYvxGcYUiWhDboCG6xvtcxuo7mQm1 [15:48]
mircea_popescu: yes, now sign that and deed it. [15:49]
anond: sorry...my will is to say a 'bad language'.. i dont know how to sign this address [15:54]
anond: sorry [15:54]
anond: deed should be the deedbot [15:54]
mircea_popescu: see the log, mariono guy managed ; even put a screenshot. did you read that ? [15:55]
anond: i am trying now to install eulora in linux [15:55]
anond: oh!!!! maybe i have understood [15:56]
anond: you awant a paste my address in http://wotpaste.cascadianhacker.com/ [15:57]
anond: ? [15:57]
mircea_popescu: you sign it. look at what the other guy did. [15:57]
diana_coman: 14cs and ONLY smalls; sigh [16:14]
mircea_popescu: aww! [16:14]
shinohai: had to reinstall debian, next up reinstall eulora [16:19]
diana_coman: o.o why shinohai ? [16:20]
shinohai: Just felt cluttered and this install was almost a year old, decided to go with clean slate [16:21]
mihi: diana_coman, just for the record: running interactive programs as RealTime priority on Windows is a bad idea, since the event subsystem only runs as High (so you might get great FPS, but your keyboard and mouse input will not arrive any more...) That's why recent versions of task manager do not allow it for processes that have a window (with ProcExp you can shoot yourself into the foot if you desire, though). [16:31]
mircea_popescu: yeah this is a good point. [16:31]
diana_coman: ah, good to know mihi; I am not at all up to date in any form with windows really [16:32]
mihi: anyway, active window process gets a priority boost of +2, so High and active window is almost realtime anyway (unless you have your media player run with RealTime, which I used to do a few decades ago on my Pentium 200) [16:32]
Tsuloid: Hi [16:36]
mircea_popescu: hola [16:36]
Tsuloid: ¿Qué tal? :) [16:37]
mircea_popescu: :) [16:37]
mihi: and to contribute to your nice fps survey: Windows 10, DirectX 12, between 9.5 and 10 fps :) [16:39]
mihi: oops seems I have set a fps cap earlier while testing the cpu issues... [16:40]
mircea_popescu: lol! [16:42]
mihi: 90-100 fps rather :) [16:43]
mihi: since I never really played I did not notice, just now that I started it again... [16:43]
mircea_popescu: aha. [16:44]
mircea_popescu: see, that's typical. [16:45]
mihi: or 18-20 at some other location, probably depending on where I am. But fairly playable I'd say :) [16:46]
mihi: btw I asked shinohai already, but his answer did not really satisfy me, why do ppl in this chan have such hate against p2sh addresses (starting with 3)? [16:47]
shinohai: It's non-standard scripting language, what more explanation do you need ? [16:50]
mircea_popescu: the answer to that is intertwined to how the republic killed gavin, and other things. [16:50]
mircea_popescu: but i wouldn't expect it can be produced without a lot of log reading [16:50]
mircea_popescu: (not here, in #trilema) [16:50]
Tsuloid: mircea_popescu what kind of task can you give me for earn btc? Only task with the eulora game? [16:51]
mircea_popescu: yes, but currently i don't have anything ; come back tomorrow, i might have found some ordinaries in the meanwhile. [16:52]
Tsuloid: mircea_popescu, right, because I need to improve my computer because the game run too slow... So I ask you for this... [16:53]
mircea_popescu: aha [16:53]
shinohai: well here goes the endless build errors with eulora. see you guys again in ~6 months [20:05]
shinohai: scratch that, I just lazily installed jurov 's deb pkg and now get a blazing 20 fps [20:18]
mircea_popescu: ha ? [20:39]
shinohai: now this is actually awesum [20:40]
shinohai: tho I dunno why building from scratch fails [20:40]
mircea_popescu: :) [20:40]
mircea_popescu: seems it's not the hardware after all ; nor exactly the eulora client. [20:41]
shinohai: Worth the 4 hours of cursing UEFI for a new install [20:41]
