May 18th, 2017 by Diana Coman
danielpbarron: hi JonDough [02:29]
JonDough: hi daniel [02:29]
JonDough: Just saw your pages earlier today. Kewl beans! [02:29]
danielpbarron: who are you? [02:30]
JonDough: I am not what I am. [02:30]
JonDough: I'm working on getting a key pasted. [02:30]
JonDough: however, if you would like, I am more than happy to give you a URL with my IRL name. [02:31]
danielpbarron: sure why not [02:31]
JonDough: doggsterart.com would prolly do. [02:32]
danielpbarron: i don't get it. you're name is doggster? [02:33]
JonDough_: http://wotpaste.cascadianhacker.com/pastes/bmwfY/?raw=true [02:35]
danielpbarron: JonDough_, what is your reason for being here? [02:37]
lobbes: lol [02:39]
JonDough: @mircea_popescu may I has an account? Don't know the commands to do that. [03:02]
JonDough: browser keeps going belly up when I try to paste, frustrating. Haven't touched freebsd in a coons age. [03:04]
danielpbarron: you got eulora to run on freebsd? [03:04]
JonDough: on the web browser in freebsd, just installed firefox also, so running in the fox this time. [03:07]
danielpbarron: why not just install an irc client [03:08]
JonDough: yup, did that too, but i'm an idiot and need to get a x11 based client, since the text one is beyond my limited abilities. [03:09]
danielpbarron: so what platform did you get eulora running on? [03:09]
JonDough: hmm. don't know what you mean by platform. Running a macbook w/bsd firefox and webchat.freenot.net [03:10]
danielpbarron: operating system i guess [03:10]
danielpbarron: do you have the game installed and running yet? [03:12]
JonDough: current freebsd 11.0 [03:12]
JonDough: still installing everything, I saw there was a game, hate them myself. Worked in game biz for last 30 years. [03:13]
danielpbarron: aha [03:13]
danielpbarron: i haven't heard of anyone getting it to work on freebsd yet, so that would be cool if you can do it [03:13]
JonDough: Last game I liked was Sargon5 chess, wrote the gui for it, was before windows 3. [03:13]
danielpbarron: do you have a blog? [03:13]
JonDough: I don't talk publicly, don't really write anything but software, so there's that. [03:14]
danielpbarron: would be a good place to post your eulora for freebsd recipe when if/when you get it [03:14]
JonDough: Can do, more than happy to share code tips. [03:15]
JonDough: I love your stuff, just ran into it today, been "reading the logs"... [03:15]
danielpbarron: which stuff is that? [03:16]
JonDough: I have some web pages of yours running on my windows box. lemme go look at the URL. [03:16]
JonDough: nope, must have closed that tab, poked into web history to read earlier articles. Some christian writings, bitcoin, etc. [03:19]
danielpbarron: you love my christian writings? [03:19]
JonDough: was raised a very conservative fundy. [03:20]
JonDough: and the mario3 200 pager was cool. [03:20]
danielpbarron: there's a good chance you were taught destructive heresies, but cool [03:20]
JonDough: my wife worked at atari as their second artist. [03:21]
danielpbarron: nice! [03:21]
JonDough: she did the artwork for the 2600 version of Mario, was called jumpman before that as you obviously know. [03:21]
JonDough: I met her at activision when she did my art for SargonV. [03:22]

lobbesbot: --- end of auction list, 1.704mn total bids --- [03:22]
JonDough: I personally was not interested in bitcoin at all until a few weeks ago, they were at 0 when I looked last, but I had no interest in silkroad. [03:23]
danielpbarron: turns out silk road users didn't have much interest in bitcoin [03:24]
JonDough: then I saw some pages with a James A. Donald and Tim May referenced and I knew them from usenet days, and went to some parties in SF with them IRL. [03:24]
danielpbarron: i don't know who they are [03:25]
danielpbarron: bitcoin is up what.. 180x from the last you looked at it? that's wild [03:25]
JonDough: Now I regret not mining a pile back when. So, instead I've been examing the genesis code, the current code, and was hoping to get up to speed with the kewl kids version. [03:26]
danielpbarron: trb you mean? [03:27]
JonDough: could be. [03:27]
JonDough: got stuck at getting the .asc files [03:28]
danielpbarron: you couldn't get them? [03:28]
JonDough: no, i'm an idiot. a smart idiot, but an idiot none the less. [03:29]
danielpbarron: oh do you mean the public keys of the patch authors? [03:29]
JonDough: yup, [03:30]
danielpbarron: deedbot can give you those, just type !!key nameofwhoever [03:30]
danielpbarron: and i think you can also browse for them on wot.deedbot.org [03:31]
JonDough: that kept crashing on me, so it did not give me any joy. It will probably work now that I got the issue resolved. [03:31]
JonDough: Thx btw, I can often follow explicit instructions. [03:32]
JonDough: just was told it was very late, wife invited me to bed, will be back at 6ish to continue the trek towards the unknown goal. [03:39]
danielpbarron: cool, we'll be here [03:41]

mircea_popescu: i like the sound of this guy, but i confess i'm confused lel. [08:56]
diana_coman: I was waiting for the guy to come back as I'm not sure I understood much [08:57]
diana_coman: I actually played Sargon ages ago [08:58]
mircea_popescu: i only played battlechess. [08:58]

diana_coman: o.O did it go down? [09:25]
mircea_popescu: seems like it ? [09:25]
diana_coman: mircea_popescu, do you need other lvl1 numina or is it just on the tinkering line? [10:11]
mircea_popescu: i'll take all, pretty much. bouq. [10:13]
mircea_popescu: JonDough o hey, you know the j. a. donald of http://trilema.com/2013/digging-through-archives-yields-gold/ fame ? fella still alive ? [10:20]
mircea_popescu: of course, the only jon dough i know, chester anuszak, used to be married to monique demoan. [10:22]

JonDough: sorry Mr Popescu, was offline, will try to "behave" in the future. A!=A. [14:35]
JonDough: Yes, I know "of" JAD, but don't "know" him. Veteran of the usenet wars, and mocked JAD several times. I was never sure if he was the same Dood as the JAD architect who has a marin office. I assume he is not him. [14:37]
JonDough: I went to several parties in SF with the crypto and anarcho peeps, he may or may not have been there also. Hard to tell. Tim May was definitely there, and Lizard Harac. I will ask Tim to voucher for me. [14:38]
JonDough: BTW, yes, I think JAD may still be posting on his blog, but I understand that Satoshi died in 2012. Too damn bad. I would have loved to have met the chappie. [14:40]
mircea_popescu: o hello [14:43]
JonDough: whois doggsterart.com, i'm that guy. doggster is my wife, most famous unknown artist of all time. [14:43]
mircea_popescu: so is there any way i can verify what you say ? [14:44]
mircea_popescu: ah lessee! [14:44]
JonDough: Nope. [14:44]
mircea_popescu: anyway, will be sending account details presently, there's something amiss with your key in deedbot. trinque is looking into it. [14:44]
JonDough: You will just have to take my word for it. My word is not gold though, it is BC, higher standard. [14:44]
mircea_popescu: what's bc ? [14:44]
JonDough: Yup, I don't handle keys well. [14:44]
JonDough: Before Christ, after death, or bitcoin, your choice, it's all tla's. [14:45]
trinque: JonDough: anything weird happen when you did !!register ? [14:45]
JonDough: Yes, lot's of weird stuff. [14:45]
trinque: which was? [14:45]
JonDough: no, i don't follow the rules. [14:45]
mircea_popescu: o.O [14:46]
JonDough: I usually make up my own rules, I am just that much of a jerk sometimes. [14:46]
JonDough: you can prolly look at my linkedin, was an Intel Architect for a while, mostly gaming though. [14:46]
trinque: is this a bot or what? [14:47]
Birdman: think im getting contact high reading this [14:47]
JonDough: Am i a bot? [14:47]
mircea_popescu: JonDough simmer down, you're confusing us. [14:47]
mircea_popescu: what did deedbot say to you when you said !!register ? [14:47]
JonDough: How can I confuse you? [14:47]
mircea_popescu: i'm easily confused, what. [14:47]
JonDough: I did not register yet. The other weird stuff was cat'ing some of the bc files, and having funky results. Will get my hex command going. [14:48]
JonDough: I mainly just wanted full copies of all the source, the genesis version, the fuxored version, and the trb version. [14:49]
mircea_popescu: so i take it the missus is mimi dogget ? [14:49]
JonDough: I had some ideas about either mining, or bug fix's, or STEALING SATOSHI'S WALLET!!!!! [14:49]
trinque: this guy's got the good shit. [14:49]
JonDough: yup, mimi is the best. [14:49]
danielpbarron: http://wotpaste.cascadianhacker.com/pastes/uTIaO/?raw=true [14:49]
mircea_popescu: as fate has it, eulora is actually looking for moar art. [14:50]
JonDough: She is working on the mac pro in the other room. [14:50]
trinque: danielpbarron: right, I also have that key on the server, but no reg in db [14:50]
mircea_popescu: trinque so what did he do ? [14:50]
trinque: wondering if I got the key under a different nick already, or what [14:50]
trinque: only way I can reckon having the key but not that nick. [14:50]
danielpbarron: i mean, i checked for key twice. first he didn't have it registered. then later he did [14:50]
danielpbarron: he was briefly logged in as JonDough_ [14:51]
mircea_popescu: ah [14:51]
JonDough: Yup, she is fricking amazing. Her current style is abstract realism. [14:51]
JonDough: the web browser keeps crashing when i try to paste, had to install firefox to make it stop. [14:51]
mircea_popescu: so are you settled on this nick then ? [14:52]
JonDough: lol, I used yandex.ru, since I'm with the russians. [14:52]
JonDough: No, I will probably setup at least 6 or 8 nicks and identities. My favourite is swag_yolo. [14:52]
mircea_popescu: that sounds vaguely familiar. [14:53]
JonDough: whois Warren Flood? and why is he Guccifer. I'm Root Bear Team, also known as APT30. I'm advanced, I'm persistant, and I'm not a threat, I'm a promise. [14:54]
mircea_popescu: did you actually get the game running ? [14:54]
JonDough: I posted on yer blog till it called my a dirty spammer. I will try not to be dirty, will use TOR next time. [14:54]
mircea_popescu: oh, you're the dude with the incomprehensible comment outpour a week or so ago ? [14:55]
JonDough: Nope, not yet, have 7 other tasks to get done, prolly can't get eulora going for a few more hours. Will do it though, I love games. [14:55]
mircea_popescu: i thought you hated games. [14:55]
JonDough: I do hate games. They are mostly stupid gambling crap now. I worked at LootDrop and Gree, and they are pieces of shite. [14:56]
mircea_popescu: i'm not familiar [14:56]
JonDough: Old school gaming is the friggin' best though. [14:56]
mircea_popescu: sure. [14:57]
JonDough: LootDrop is the abortion done by the famous John Romero, the idiot that almost wrecked id. Carmack made coin though. [14:57]
mircea_popescu: wasn't that katana something ? [14:57]
JonDough: We had notch come through LootDrop in my last week there, I love minecraft. [14:57]
JonDough: yup, he made Daikatana, the worst game in history. Lets do something worse than quake, and add lots more weapons!!!! [14:58]
mircea_popescu: a right, that. [14:58]
mircea_popescu: one of the rare cases at the time of development more entertaining than product. [14:59]
JonDough: I did some encryption work at Intel, I was the architect for BackRest, the intel backup/restore solution. I needed compression and encryption, so I got to spend a week with the encryption crew, and got all of the goodies. [15:00]
JonDough: I added my own super weak encryption, using 4 streams of OTP, which I called XOR encrypt. Super weak. Was looking at Dixie Hellman too, ya know, the Mayonaisse. [15:01]
JonDough: sorry about the verbal diarrhea, will shut up now, and not hog the chan. [15:03]
mircea_popescu: in places difficult to follow. anyway, drop a line when you got it running ill send you acct details. [15:03]
JonDough: Impossible to follow, mostly references that you likely don't know. I will chat more when I get the warez running, and get an account! I wanna play. [15:05]
mircea_popescu: cool. [15:06]
JonDough: btw, my phone is the Folsom Area code, my house number in SF, which was 235, and my favourite chip, the atari one, the 65o2. If you wanna voice, just decode. [15:07]
mircea_popescu: very kind of you. [15:07]

mircea_popescu: cool. [17:23]
Birdman: i got 1781 tinies to 61 smalls to 2 ords in my latest bh run which was over 5k and under 10k tries [18:16]
Birdman: which i guess is trending towards 900:30:1 [18:17]
Birdman: so if that holds true for the rest of the claims im 27000 tinies away from a remark and 810k tinies away from a sizeable [18:18]
mircea_popescu: ha! [18:18]
mircea_popescu: keep us posted. [18:18]

danielpbarron: did someone take my cordage and shavings? [20:15]
danielpbarron: i made something over 1k cordage and at least a few thousand shavings in the last day or two and i put them in my worn screens here and now they are gone [20:16]
danielpbarron: not in my storage either [20:17]
mircea_popescu: i didn't. are they lagged out ? [20:18]
mircea_popescu: im getting some incredible lag atm [20:18]
danielpbarron: what is lagged out? [20:19]
danielpbarron: i didn't leave them on the ground [20:19]
mircea_popescu: the items [20:19]
danielpbarron: what does that mean? [20:19]
mircea_popescu: that they're there but don't show [20:20]
danielpbarron: i recall the screens disapeared earlier today and i had to have my alt pick it up [20:20]
mircea_popescu: stuff like that [20:20]
mircea_popescu: iirc diana_coman had similar happen [20:20]
danielpbarron: alt can't see stuff in them either [20:21]

danielpbarron: huh, and i'm pretty sure i used up all my ppb blueprints and yet i see i have almost a stack here in storage [20:23]
danielpbarron: and while i'm remarking on these odditites, i am certain i used to have a bunch of small claim bundles that disappeared from storage, as well as a couple ordinary grass bundles [20:24]
