#eulora Logs for 14 May 2017

May 14th, 2017 by Diana Coman
danielpbarron: ok i've identified at least one that should be avoided, or at least one that doesn't work out of the box on gentoo: bullet [00:48]
danielpbarron: if cs finds this, it will fail to compile targets [00:49]
danielpbarron: is there no way to get Reginald to talk anymore? i wanted to test sound [02:30]
diana_coman: not at the moment, no [02:49]
danielpbarron: http://wotpaste.cascadianhacker.com/pastes/ZfMnb/?raw=true << my client crashed when building an ord finished, might be because i ranked up [04:18]
mircea_popescu: danielpbarron which were needed in the end ? [04:45]
diana_coman: danielpbarron, is that the sort of thing you used to get previously? it does seem to be related to the skills window but it's all client side really [04:48]
mircea_popescu: diana_coman trade if you want ? [04:50]
danielpbarron: mircea_popescu, i'm not sure what is needed. it runs fine with a lot of that stuff missing. i was curious if it mattered [05:26]
mircea_popescu: possibly not. [05:26]
danielpbarron: did anyone ever figure out how to make the client start in fullscreen? [05:27]
danielpbarron: i see the option for it in euclient.cfg but it doesn't seem to work [05:27]
mircea_popescu: alt-enter, or else edit the config [05:32]
mircea_popescu: works for me ? [05:32]
danielpbarron: editing the config worked for you? [05:32]
mircea_popescu: might be unhappy interaction with the windows manager. [05:32]
mircea_popescu: danielpbarron yes. [05:32]
mircea_popescu: i don't usually run it fs though, i prefer the window. [05:32]
danielpbarron: me too [05:33]
mircea_popescu: (you can alternatively run it windowed with window size = screen size, i guess) [05:33]
danielpbarron: i'm working on a concept where computer boots up and goes straight into eulora [05:33]
mircea_popescu: may need to beat up the window manager into it. [05:33]
mircea_popescu: but not a bad concept. [05:34]
danielpbarron: i'm not even using a window manager! [05:34]
mircea_popescu: ah [05:34]
mircea_popescu: once we release the next version with rsa comms etc, that'll actually be a quite viable workstation. [05:34]
mircea_popescu: just needs a chat bridge to the bots and it's golden. Eulordows. [05:34]
diana_coman: not a bad idea at all, danielpbarron ; re deps I haven't really checked all of them - fwiw I thik the cegui stuff included zlib for instance so there is some overlap; out of the list it's this cegui and possibly the wxwidgets that ring most bells - but I can't really say for sure atm; once we release the next version of the client things will be more clear though [08:04]
danielpbarron: lol wxwidgets and cegui really? [10:19]
danielpbarron: i didn't get those ones [10:19]
mircea_popescu: yeah, spurious. [10:33]
shinohai: I'm interested to see where your experiments go danielpbarron ... I didn't use a window manager for my first couple of builds, but using fluxbox now. Mine always started fullscreen by changing the .cfg though like mp I prefer just the window so I can have an irc client open here too. [11:22]
diana_coman: danielpbarron> i didn't get those ones <- cool then [14:38]
danielpbarron: wait so i don't need those? [14:41]
danielpbarron: btw i figured out fullscreen. it's add --fs to euclient [14:41]
danielpbarron: as in, run ./development/Eulora/euclient --fs [14:42]
danielpbarron: and i got it to run all this on user login [14:42]
danielpbarron: next step is get it to autologin [14:42]
diana_coman: danielpbarron, as I said earlier: I don't really know exactly; I remember the cegui thing was something I needed on the windows machine but it might have been because of including zlib [15:01]
diana_coman: so maybe it works if you already have zlib on its own [15:01]
diana_coman: does crystalspace compile & run ok that walktest thing? [15:02]
danielpbarron: walktest doesn't work but euclient does [15:16]
diana_coman: ahaha [15:18]
danielpbarron: i recall walktest working on one of my setups, probably my main one. but ever since i tried the no window manger route i think is when walktest stopped working [15:36]
danielpbarron: but the game runs (seemingly) flawless anyway [15:36]
danielpbarron: relatedly, i have probably about 5 machines capable of running eulora right now [15:37]
diana_coman: nice [15:38]
danielpbarron: walktest does compile though [15:39]
danielpbarron: just won't run [15:39]
danielpbarron: says it can't find some lib i don't recall what [15:39]
danielpbarron: actually that's easy to get [15:39]
danielpbarron: libcrystalspace-2.1.so [15:41]
diana_coman: uhm, it doesn't find crystalspace?? [15:43]
danielpbarron: i guess [15:48]
diana_coman: that sounds more like a path/vars problem rather than any missing libraries [15:49]
diana_coman: mircea_popescu> diana_coman trade if you want ? <- can do it now [15:52]
danielpbarron: yeah it turns up in locate [15:53]
danielpbarron: aaand i have done it. i have a laptop that powers on and without any other touching will end up at the eulora login screen. then when you quit, it drops down to gdb where you can run it again or quit. if you quit, the machine shuts down [17:17]
danielpbarron: it would be more elegant to leave out the gdb so that clicking quit in eulora would lead to shutdown [17:18]
danielpbarron: pros and cons either way [17:18]
diana_coman: the eulora machine, not bad [17:25]
danielpbarron: hi Top8 [17:28]
Top8: Hello! [17:29]
Top8: I was looking for Mircea to ask for a login/pass to try the game [17:29]
diana_coman: hi Top8 [17:30]
danielpbarron: Top8, register a key first [17:30]
diana_coman: Top8, follow this: http://www.eulorum.org/Account_Setup [17:30]
Top8: omw [17:30]
Top8: thanks all [17:30]
Top8: oh wow, seems that thanks to the game im finally going to understand the WOT and how to effectively use PGP... yay! [17:33]
diana_coman: heh :) [17:38]
Top8: Ok, i *think* i did it! [18:55]
Top8: i have registered to deedbot also. [18:56]
Top8: well, gotta be afk for a couple hours, brb later. For anything, just lmk here or pm. I just want to know what to do next in order to get a login/pass for the game. Thanks! [19:07]
mircea_popescu: danielpbarron> walktest doesn't work but euclient does << win [19:24]
mircea_popescu: diana_coman now ? [19:25]
mircea_popescu: ftr i just about finished all teh grass, so there's some juicy [19:25]
mircea_popescu: danielpbarron pretty impressive! [19:25]
mircea_popescu: Top8 http://wotpaste.cascadianhacker.com/pastes/iLE70/?raw=true [19:30]
Top8: Hi Mircea, sorry for my noobness, but i dont know what i need to do with that :-/ [21:16]
mircea_popescu: decrypt it [21:18]
Top8: learned JUST NOW how to do it. haha. another small step! :P [21:26]
mircea_popescu: wd. [21:31]
Top8: Sigh ok i was trying not to ask *again* but after one hour surfing the web and trying everything: All im doing is /explore (getting damage) , and i get tiny boulder enumeration and tiny boulder key. I open the container/stick/whatever is that and it says all i need is a Little Bit O Nothing... Which i don't have, apparently. What i'm doing wrong? [22:27]
Top8: now i got 7 enumerations, 7 keys and lots of sticks in the beach. #lost [22:28]
Birdman: lack of bits sounds like the problem [22:34]
Top8: yes [22:35]
Top8: where do i find Little Bits o nothing? (Kafkian question) [22:35]
Birdman: well they're made, but your best bet is to either buy some or leave the claims unlocked and eventually they will disappear, and their respective keys will turn into a q11 little bit of nothing [22:36]
Top8: ooh ok. [22:36]
Top8: thanks :) [22:36]
Top8: is late here at home so i think i will explore more so my inventory is gloriously full of NOTHING tomorrow. [22:37]
Top8: ha [22:37]
Birdman: you should be so lucky [23:05]
Birdman: i swear these days it takes an age to get some key bits [23:05]
danielpbarron: what would you dooOOoo for some little bits [23:33]
mircea_popescu: Top8 possibly diana_coman was looking for a dedicated noob. [23:54]
