Reading the first line of cyphertext aloud in hopes of discerning some kind of structure, I discovered a perhaps unexpected benefit of the reduced symbol set of the hex encoding, itself just one of several improvements visible here to the discerning (or rather, GPG-battered) eye: it started sounding like poetry.
